Facilities subject to energy audits

Energy-intensive facilities:

Law no. 99-09 of July 28, 1999 on energy management (article 20) introduced a mandatory, periodic energy audit system to monitor and control the energy consumption of energy-intensive facilities in the industrial, transport and tertiary sectors, with a view to optimizing their energy efficiency.

In accordance with Executive Decree no. 05-495 of December 26, 2005, relating to energy audits of energy-intensive facilities, all industrial, transport and tertiary establishments, whatever their legal nature or activity, are subject to the energy audit obligation, provided their annual energy consumption reaches the thresholds set below:

–   2000 tep per year for the Industrial sector facilities,

–  1000 tep per year for Transport sector facilities,

–  500 tep per year for tertiary sector facilities,

In accordance with article 16 of the aforementioned decree, any facility reaching this threshold is required to declare itself to the Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE).
