Pursuant to Executive Decree No. 26-268 of 8 Safar 1448, corresponding to 23 July 2026, establishing the National Agency for Energy Management and Energy Efficiency and setting out its remit, organisation and operation, the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalisation of Energy Use (APRUE) and the Commission for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CEREFE) are merging their responsibilities within this new entity.
This institutional reorganisation aims to optimise governance, broaden the remit and strengthen capacities in order to:
Implement the new National Energy Management Strategy for 2035.
Accelerate the transition to a more efficient and sustainable energy system.
Transitional provisions and continuity of service Until the new agency is effectively established and becomes operational – scheduled for by the end of 2026 – APRUE and CEREFE will continue to carry out their remit and operate their services as normal.
APRUE and CEREFE will continue to operate as normal in their dealings with their partners and will honour all their contractual and institutional commitments. The new agency will automatically succeed the two organisations in all their rights and obligations.
The institutional form is evolving, but the commitment to energy efficiency remains firm.
