Context
The ISO 50001 standard specifies the requirements for designing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system, enabling organizations to achieve continuous improvement in their energy performance, which includes energy efficiency, use and consumption.
It specifies the requirements applicable to energy use and consumption, including metering, documentation and reporting, the design and procurement of equipment and systems, and the processes and personnel that contribute to energy performance.
It applies to all factors affecting energy performance that the organization can monitor and influence.
It does not prescribe specific energy performance criteria.

The implementation of the energy management system is planned in several stages, to enable the progressive and effective integration of normative requirements and to set in motion the process of continuous improvement of the company energy performance.
The six (06) stages constituting the project for the implementation of the Energy Management System are:
A preliminary visit is carried out by a specialized APRUE team to assess the scope of the service, to familiarize themselves with the organization of the company wishing to implement such a system, and to ensure the commitment of management, in particular the senior manager, which is a prerequisite for the success of the project.
