Algeria's transport sector accounts for 31% of final energy consumption and 46% of greenhouse gasemissions.
The program to develop energy efficiency in the transport sector by 2030 aims to promote the most available and least polluting fuels, with the aim of enriching the fuel supply structure and offering an alternative to diesel fuel, which is widely used in public transport, thereby reducing the import bill for this fuel, and helping to mitigate the effects of conventional fuels on health and the environment.
The CNG program will eventually lead to the widespread use of clean fuels in public transport.
